ive had my degus for about 8 months and to start with everything was fine but after a few months one of them had a day where she kept squeaking and couldnt settle and since then she does the same thing every two weeks, her sister was the same to start with but she seems to have stopped for now. does anyone have any ideas as to why she is doing this i dont think its anything serious but i hate to hear her doing it when there is nothing i can do for her. thanks

What type of squeaking is it? - i.e. warning call, mating bark etc? Mine regularly do a round of warning calls when I move about in my room but nothing major.
There is a sound guide on Degutopia (http://degutopia.co.uk - if you go on Degu Information: General Info there is a tab called Degu Sounds) which might help you determine why she is squeaking.

Like Dingle said, it could be a Warning Call or a Mating Bark.
Warning Calls can be set off by anything, from a slight breeze in the room, movement and sometimes I think they make a fuss out of nothing. Sometimes my boys will do the Warning Squeak because another one has make a noise or given them a spook.

Sometimes my degu Scribble sees something he doesn't like and squeaks for hours until we take it away! It's especially annoying at night time, but still cute. It is probably a warning call, like the others have said, and may be triggered by something new in there room. Nothing to worry about, though.
