You can probably guess what's happened... it has been coming a while now and Minx has been pushing the boundaries...
Madam Madness has been usurped!
Arrived home yesterday to none of the usual greetings. - the usual being a series of warbling chitters saying thanks for coming home now open the bloody cage door. Or if accompanied by a stranger, the usual is chittering angrily to let him/her know how scary and dangerous they are. But, I entered their room to silence.
Tiptoed to the cage thinking maybe I'd catch them all asleep. As soon as I was close enough Maddy flew to hang onto the door on the middle level and started crying. Cue me panicking to open the cage and reassure her, her scampering up the arm and down the back of the neck of my top, scrabbling around to lie with her nose out the top near my neck, body between my shoulder blades! Her heart was absolutely racing poor mite. Left her to it to check the others (and to avoid being bitten!)
Manic gets checked first - what with her being one eye down she has a special place in my heart despite not being a cuddly goo. No injuries, no fear reaction like Mads is showing. So she's popped on the sofa with a sunflower seed in apology for the manhandling.
Minx is the next target as I'd assumed with her recent behaviour she was probably the culprit! Falsely accused it seems. No injuries anywhere and again a pretty calm goo. Also, dumped quickly on sofa with sunflower seed (and Icky given another so she can enjoy it!)
So we turn to May... who is hiding and then refusing to come out. I actually end up chasing her round the cage with my hand to scoop her out - which isn't the best of ideas. But she's a mess. She's got six bites across her back, a slightly nibbled ear and has a bite very close to her eye (its caught the bottom eyelid). Luckily all minor injuries but the sheer number is astounding.
That and her sheer stupidity! Even I know not to take on Maddy! Probably all of you on here have heard enough stories to know not to take on Maddy! It appears even Minx, the naughty little goo, knows not to take on Maddy!
...and yet, its Maddy down the back of my neck in a state.
So we check out the eye wound and wash it out a bit. Then encourage Mads out to be checked over (also has a few minor bite wounds), give her much fussing and cuddles together with several of the training seeds.
Then I unpack the shopping (with a Maddy on the shoulder supervising)!
Well, Mads spent the nite out and the girlies were caged. Mads spent most of it asleep with me on the sofa (which was nice) but tripped across to sit on top of the cage and shout at the girls every few hours (which wasn't)!
This morning I supervised the reintroduction - which required several interventions! Not surprising considering how upset Maddy was (she probably has several hitgoos out on May now!). And... May is very well cowed.
Maddy is queen again!
...and making sure everyone knows it!!!
