Hi I know it got mentioned ages ago - but im one of the old crew and memory really not that good !!!! yep 45 it goes south including the memory ;D. The 4 pups are now at that stage where any door is fair game to them - well the kitchen door and lounge door in particular. Is there anything i can swipe on them to give them the "yuk" factory to the boys - love them dearly but were going to hve to do all the doors at this rate. As some of you know they are in the cage from heaven with 4 floors come out every day for at least 2 hours have more toys than hamleys and get lots of attention ........... so why wont they leave the flaming doors along i know they chew just want some suggestions as to what to do to prevent us having barn doors not by design !!!!!!!!!!!!

I read an article last night, you may need to get some bitter spray (test it urself as sometimes they're not that bitter) and just spray it on the doors at the bottom, should work.

Apparently they hate Tea Tree too, but it's really not good for them either. DC has heard that they won't go anywhere near it because they hate it so much, but it's whether you want to risk it.
They chew things that aren't there for chewing because they can! Mine have wooden toys for chewing, but still only want to chew their hammocks! My cats want our dinner even if they've got dinner of their own! Just the way they are, lol.

I've got the same problem. I've tried the bitter apple spray, it only slowed them down for the time it takes to sniff and lick and then they just went ahead and continued chomping. I got desperate and tried the merest hint of teatree oil. It stopped them for about 10 minutes, I think it must evaporate off pretty quickly.
I'm left with watching them like a hawk and yelling at them and blowing on them. They really don't like the blowing, it's just a bit awkward if you have one sat on you and then have to move close to an offending goo to do a good blow of air. They are definitely starting to get the message, and learning what is OK to chew and what is not. They aren't stopping chewing the bad things yet unless I am right there though, but I live in hope!
Anyway apart from that, I am using physical barriers, like a weighted down rug, or cardboard, and other distractions.

Forget tea tree oil in this case, it's like putting out a candle with a fire extinguisher :-)
The best suggestion is a piece of L-shaped metal (not aluminium, they get through it easy) over the edge of the door they nibble through...IIRC Emz said they're about £1 or so from a certain hardware store but I looked into it and the ones I found they were expecting up to £10 for. A bar of wood screwed into place will do as an alternative but that would allow chewing but would require replacing regularly...but it wouldn't let them damage the door. If I ever find the perfect replacement (a row of toilet roll tubes stuck in place so they're round and thus can't be gnawed...might work) I'll post it here for everyone :-)

novel answer from my sister - buy a parrot!!!
Figure that one out! lol!
(Basically, she looked after a parrot recently and its taken up responding to the noise goos make when chewing wood by shouting 'hey' or 'oi'! Its was beating her to it each time... )
