Well my 6 yr old is quite excited. This friday i am bringing two of the babies to her school so she can show them off. They'll be 4 weeks old, so i'm hoping they'll be fine for a few hours away from their mom. Just wanted to share.

Sounds like fun! Can you handle the babies? Ours are still so timid -- they've just now started taking treats from our hands.
You'll have to let us know how your Show and Tell goes!

At the beginning of this school year, I took our 3 "girls" in to our son's 5th grade class for a history project he was working on. It was The History of Our Degus. The children, as well as the teachers, were amazed at the interesting information he had. :oThe principle was terrified, but we don't like her anyways! ;D Everyone had so many questions, so be prepared . Everyone is so used to hamsters and such in this area, that they may not even know the difference until their uniqueness is explained. A lot of people commented on the HUGE gerbils! The children were so excited to find out that we had a boy and were expecting pups! Everyone wanted them, however, I only heard from a couple parents! Go figure. lol You will have a lot of fun and your little one will be the talk of the school for a while! Laurie

just a suggestion, get hold of a large rodent friendly travel box, and take everyone. That way the babies will be away from mum for the smallest time and less likely to get stressed.

Sorry it took so long to reply. The show and tell was a huge succes. All the kids were amazed by the babies. Petting and even holding them. I brought two of them with me and they did really well, they didn't cry once. My daughters were so happy that they got to show their animals.
