I don't know where to begin.
I guess I'll start at 3:00 AM. I heard this continuous peeping. That was very unusual, they don't normally wake until we do.
Getting up to check, I thought that Milly had her litter. There were several little heads all in a bunch in the opposite aquarium that Lilly had hers. Just as I was about to get Willy the heck out of there, I looked at Lilly's side and nobody was there! They had moved all 8 pups to the other side! They must have run out of room in that jar. All of the adults wanted to cuddle, and it was difficult. They came up with their own solution!
Milly did not have her pups yet, but after weighing her last night, I was surprised to see that see had gained 95 grams, just as Lilly had! I was hoping to find less little faces looking at me when she had hers, but this morning, I was watching them move around inside her, just like Lilly! I think we are in for another big crew!
I'm pretty sure that we have good homes for all of Lilly's litter! ;D
I tried to keep our younger son's classmates(11 year olds)involved in this interesting process. We even raised money for the school, guessing how many pups we would have. I just kept thinking if I could just get a couple of these kids interested, we might have a chance. I know they would be taken care of, because Daniel helps me a great deal, even at his young age. He absolutely LOVES our degus! He even did a major poster project about the history of degus. I took them into the school that day, and the children were amazed! He aced it!
Well, 1 of those children called me last night. She was afraid that we would run out of them before she called! I talked to her mom and put her on our list.
The rest of the homes are family members. Our great nephew will take Willy and a son. He said it would be like him and his dad!
Our babies are everywhere! It was hard getting Daniel to school because we couldn't stop watching them! Their heads are so big, but they scurry around just fine.
