What are the sex of the other 3 degus. If she is with the father atm, I'd recommend that if she was removed after 24 hours after birth the father should go in with the mother to help raise the pups. Alternativly if the others are sisters, they should in theory help the mum with the pups. I have heard that it is always best that the mum has help be it by father, one sister or 3.

I was reading the breeding section on degutopia.. I'd recommend it www.degutopia.co.uk. It basically says that keeping the four together shouldn't be a problem but make sure the males are removed for 3 days so the female doesn't fall pregnant again.

Neutering would (obviously) stop this happening again and ensure you had a stable group with no further problems. Lots of degus in rescue at the moment - it is apparently not easy to find good homes for them - if you keep a mixed sex group then I would think you will have a LOT of babies to home soon
