Well imagine my suprise today when i looked into the cage of babies now aged 10 and 7 days, the 10 day olds were all rocketing around, climbing up the wire walls, jumping on top of the nest boxes, sitting in the sandbath, and I saw one muching on a guinea pig pellet!! I was shocked as up to now all they have done is wander around the floor every now and then. They still huddled up to mum after all their shennanigans for a cuddle and a drink, but I almost had a tear in my eye! They're growing up so fast :') Also, I thought I would be alright, but WIRE CAGES are NOT suitable for babies! I turned around yesterday and saw two had fallen trough a gap in the wire floor of the cage and were sitting in the poop tray They have been moved to like a rat cage with smaller squares in the wire and plastic flooring. It was a shame to make them leave their nest, I provided lots and lots more nesting matrials all around the new cage but they seem to have settled in an empty wooden nestbox

Aww bless they do grow up fast I think someone used to stick plain CD cases around the bottom of the cages so the babies can't get out! See if that works?

Try using ceramic tiles. I put bedding material etc on top and mine are fine with it. It's easy to clean as well, just rinse them under the tap.

Hard to believe how fast they change and grow! I was looking closely at your set of pictures of them all, and realized I could tell which are Cookie's and which are Pebbles'. Cookie's have just that much more growth that they are visually a little bigger. Are the younger set starting to tuck in to some pellets?
