I have 3 baby girls, 2 of the girls are always together chasing each other and playing all the time. Why the other girl is always on her own playing and never together unless they are sleeping.
anyone elses goos do this?

My goos, now that we have put our two cages together, spend more time apart than I expected to see. Actually . . . I didn't expect it at all!! But it isn't unusual to look in and see two snuggled up together, while one is in a distant corner all by himself. There are times when they are all sleeping, but in different corners of the cages yet again. Sometimes they are all busy doing "gooey" type things, and still all apart. Then they play together. I think they just have "give me my space" moments, where it's nice to know somegoo is "in the building", but equally nice to know they don't have to breathe the same air at the same time. My goos are mostly social with gentle breezes of solitude, occasionally disturbed by gusts of distinctly anti-social grumps. She (your solitary baby) probably has a good sense of self-esteem, and doesn't require the constant grooming of her siblings to boost her confidence. ;D (Will be writing my thesis for my Doctorate in Goo Psych soon. )

"Gentle breeze of solitude"? I like that!! Though my life is so busy at the moment, I would quite like a "Bloody great hurricane of solitude!!"

I would agree with deguconvert. with age the degus will settle down more, and also the less dominant will settle quicker. It could well be that the degu on her own more often is bottom of the pecking order. This isnt a problem, but the degu will move around slower, and often eat more as a result. She is trying to show that she isnt going to be a threat to the "top dog". I wouldnt worry too much, my Marmalade was like this, and as a result the gentlest degu I have ever had!

I really think she is the runt of the litter because she is unable to climb as well as her sisters. She can't even climb up the outside of cage or down it instead she looks at me for help unlike the girls who will not let me help at all.

Perhaps shes not so sure of climbing, I know one of mine attempts it but chickens out whilst the other two shoot up to the top and take down posters and wallpaper when I'm not looking... Or, perhaps shes the cleverest and knows she has you wrapped around her little paw finger. After all, climbing will exert alot of energy
