I have a question...How Long does mom have to keep the pups warm? (like...what age are the able to control their body heat?) cause, my degus (Lola, Delihla, and Cookie) arent sitting on the babies....or atleast they are barely ever! The pups are 9 days old today. (march 29th) Should I do anything to keep the pups warm?I also barely see the mom nursing them.... is this a big problem? or is she just nursing them when I am not their?thanks, a worried grandma, Angela (akosmyna)

she's probably feeding them when your nor not there. i think our dan only kept the pups warm for about 7 days, then they seemed to just have a cuddle.

according to degutopia they are likely to be large enough to regulate their own body temperature by 9 days, but only just! check out www.degutopia.co.uk in the breeding section...

anytime. the one good thing about goos and babies is the one thing they seem to do naturally is look after their babies. when we had our pups we didn't even know she was pregnant so she kinda did it all on her own really.
