If she is getting bigger, and bulges when you look at her front on, and she is nesting, the chances are she is pregnant, and could be due to give birth soon. We thought we had three boys but one evening, one of them gave birth to three, the other a few days later and she had 6. The labour doesnt last very long, maybe two to three hours, and the day after, both mums were running around!! Baby degus are really cute, ours are nearly 4 weeks now. Sam and kevin

Sam and kevin i think she has given birth pulled out a bit of nesting material and was blood on it rather a lot of noise aswell. im so happy. Dont really want to disturb her and look into the nesting box cant really look into it as everything possible is in there. will keep you up dated as soon as i know pics also in a few days

Hi ya just wanted to add that if the male is still in with her when she gives birth he will cheap really loudly and mate with her as soon as he can, you will end up with another litter in 90days,
i know as when i homed my so called boy's from rspca they were all girls and 1 boy, ended up with 1 litter and as she gave birth in the night he got to her and 90 days later 7 more babies,
I was so upset that i'd breed them, this was 2 years ago and i still makes me cross.
Lets hope you don't have to many, homed the dad and 14 babies (2 litters of 7) though here, which i can't thank enough

Get him done not her. Most vets will not do the females because very few get through the operation as its much harder to do than the males.
