last night bubbles give birth to her 2nd litter, things went well she has had 6 babies this time.
only problem was after first one was born, female babe who is 4 months old from first litter
kept run off with the new born degu, i kept bring it back to the nest, at one point the mother and female were having tug of war with baby
so i had to move the young female into cage by herself
i got male squeak done at end november, so wont know if thats work yet

I have no idea what that is about. It certainly seems strange! Perhaps she has aspirations to motherhood? A tug of war with the baby is definitely not a good thing, so removing the female from the first litter was good. The thing is, she is soon going to be feeling lonely and dejected. If you can put some of her litter mates in with her, it will help her out. With the first litter, were there any male pups? Do you still have them? Have you separated them from the females? Just curious. They will rapidly be approaching sexual maturity, and fights over the females will become deadly, not to mention potential pregnancies. This is probably all moot though, as you have more than likely separated them out, or re-homed them.

Well . . . how is she acting at this point? Have you tried putting her back in with mum and babes? Maybe just to see how she behaves, pop her in and see what happens. You might have to just give her short visits for a while, but keep her apart from the others for the most part. It will be kind of a try and see situation I think, feeling your way along as things develop.

Not an expert but I would think its the daughter's maternal instincts kicking in... female rats are known to pinch the babies too. Once all the excitment wears off pop her back and see how she is then. She may take over the litter from time to time for mum to have a rest and that might satisfy her needs (if she still has them).

at the moment she is eating her food she been her normal self, but is missing the rest of the family.
i think she was looking at the baby as hers thats why she took it.
i am thinking off puting her in again over next few days, when the babies start moving around .
just keep eye on her to see what happens with them

LOL!! Poor little second momma! She certainly has strong maternal instincts. I'm glad you have put her back, and that all were so delighted to see her again. A great big wonderful family reunion! I hope things continue to be well!

she has been doing well take care of the babies whlie the parents have a rest, she enjoy fuss over them, she now realise that the babies are already in a nest, so she doesnt have to remove them to any where else in the cage.
