The reason you are getting comments along these lines is that there must be a topic every day on here where someone is struggling to rehome degus. And no one can see why you would want to add to that.

Sophie I think you can see that theres a general consensus that say don't do it... perhaps its too late for one litter but we honestly are trying to help you and the degus to be from coming into difficulties.
Personally I can't understand why you went from no degus to breeding degus because you wouldn't even know what degus are like to keep. I think thats the first thing that brought up a red flag.
Do you have an agreement with this petshop that they will buy the babies off you? Even so, like everyone is saying there are so many unwanted babies its untrue.
I understand your logic for removing one female so you weren't flooded with babies and you could learn better but she will more than likely get lonely, even if you are playing with her everyday you can't be there 24:7 especially at night time, my degus will snooze seperatly during the day but at night they will never ever sleep apart... its dead cute seeing them all heaped up in a pile, legs everywhere lol. But what I'm saying is that she won't have any interaction and companionship and it honestly can lead them to depression.
Anyway with all of this you may have a litter on the way regardless. Have you heard the mating call yet?
Please let us know what you plan to do with the lone female.
