One of our mum degus, Mr Muggles is looking extremely thin now she's had her babies for 2 weeks and both her and Ted, our other new mum, are constantly lying down and looking tired. They are both eating well but Muggles is so thin I can see her hip bones and it worries me a lot.
Has anyone else experienced this sort of extreme weightloss? Is it normal, will it clear up, and how can I fatten her up a bit?

Mocha appeared to be thin and a bit ragged after having her 9 puppies. (8 survived) I worried a bit because she was very young and had so many babies. I made sure her food was very close to the nest box and changed her water twice a day. I offered her extra treats like guinea-pig biscuits and wheat grass. She regained her weight after the babies were weaned at approx 6wks.

it should be ok, cause when our degu, floppy had babies ( litter of 5) she looked thin but when the babies were weaned, she put all the weight back on since she had some time for herself and some time to run around on her wheel
