Do you know if your pair of degus are from the same litter themselves? If they are brother and sister (or closely related) AND mating, it could be that the babies so far produced have had defects significant enough for the mother degu to feel they were a hazard to the "colony safety." In breeding is a real cause of health problems and defects. Where did you purchase your degus from? Is there a way of finding out their history? Also, is there a reason why you have a male and a female? Are you planning to be a breeder?

Either that what deguconvert has said or she feels threatened.

It's also possible that it's a nutritional deficiency. Pregnancy is terribly taxing on mammalian mothers and sometimes they have to eat their offspring afterwards just to keep themselves alive.
Is the one remaining baby female? When nutrition is an issue mothers will tend to kill their male babies rather than the females because they are easier to raise, use less milk, and population wise it is better to have a surplus of females than males.
What are you feeding them?

LOL! Don't worry, not wiping out any males. Just thought it was . . . interesting in a humorous kind of way. LOL!
