Hi,
Our mummy to be, is giving signs she is about to give birth, about 16 hours ago she sat in a nest built by her and dad and has stayed there ever since.
she looks very tired and keeps squashing her self down like she is pushing, i can see the shape of the pups still on her side, she also keeps turning round slowly in circles intermittently.
she does not look in pain she is making no untoward sounds she just looks tired, she is eating when food is put near her,my theory is she is trying too early to give birth, but wondered if anyone else has experienced anything like this.

Having nothing but proven male goos, I don't have experience with this. In fact, I don't think many people have the priviledge of witnessing the birth of pups. It is almost always a surprise, whether expected or not by their humans. They seem to do it when no one is around. How is she doing now?

Hi,
My name is Laura, Arro is my other half
Checked on mum over the weekend and she has been spotting blood. Its not a lot and is pink, not red. We noticed it on the kitchen roll shes adding to her nest! Shes seems well in herself and is still moving around. Is this something we should be worried about or that the process is starting? Done nothing but panic since it looked as though the babies have dropped down!
Any advice would be muchly appreciated
Thanks
Laura

hello Laura, I would just give your vet a call just to double check but i would have thought in the next few days you should see your pups.
This happened to me and i was worried stiff took her to the vets ( i didnt even know she was pregnant) and they vets didnt even know she was pregnant then the day after very early morning she was making a lot of noise and there were 3 lil pups.
But I found exactly what you have with your goo.
Thanks
Jen

Oh that is such a relief! We have felt ever so silly since we found out she was pregnant, panicking at every little thing!
She seems well in herself so think we'll leave her a day or so and go from there.
Is it sad to be sooooo excited? We only got the goo's just before xmas and definately obsessed!

Not at all!! If we had a pregnant female we would all be fussing over her like crazy. The poor thing would begin to regret the sight of us I suspect. However, we have all boys, so we have to live vicariously through the experiences of other owners and their expectant girls. Your excitement is contagious! I look forward to hearing of the blessed event!

of course its not sad at all to be so excited we also have another pregnant female, which i find really exciting, we bought 4 female degus just before christmas but however now we know that one of them was a male, as one gave birth last tuesday and now the other 2 are also pregnant, not a great situation to be in, however i will be keeping them all, males in one cage females in the other. But i know exactly how you feel, i am constantly watching them all making sure they are all ok and making sure they have everything they need. So i know exactly how you feel

Hi Guys,
It is with great sadness that i have to announce that our mum penny had to be put to sleep yesterday. We took her to the vets as she had collapsed, it turns out the pregnancy had gone on to long and she has been unable to give birth, causing the pups to die which in turn the toxins from the pups had been killing her from inside. she was to weak to undergo any surgery, so we took the most humane option.
we are glad for the time we had with her, and she will forever be in our hearts
Thankyou to everyone who has given us advice.
Rest in peace Penny, sweet dreams x

Didnt really think we was "That attached" but man that was so hard!
Love you lots mama goo'!

I am really sorry for the loss. You can take comfort in knowing she was well cared for by you two.
Very sorry...

I can't tell you how badly I feel! The poor sweet little mum! She tried so hard to successfully have her pups. I feel just terrible for her, and for you. She must have been terribly ill by yesterday. I'm so sorry for you all. I'll be thinking of you. RIP little lady.
