So this is Jason's girlfriend again, and not Jason.
I've been watching Siri and I was feeding her some of her little treats, and three times she didn't eat the treat, but hid them.
First in their dust bath, second behind the wheel and third in their hammock under some hay.
Is this a normal thing to do before her babies are born? 'Cause she's a sphere. Like huge. And fluffy.
And I think I felt her babies...
But yeah. Hiding? Normal?

Hiding treats is fairly normal, my two male degus do it unless it is a treat they really love then they will eat it on the spot (so cheerios). Other treats just get buried.

Allegra made various food 'stores' before she gave birth, she doesn't do it as much anymore.

Our cage is well over due for a cleaning right now, and there is one wheel that is a favorite resting place for all the goos. Being a fine mesh wire, their poop can fall through, and being a fav location there is LOTS of poop there. This morning one of our boys took one of his favorite bits of food out of the dish, scurried under the wheel, made quite a show of parting the poop, then lay the food bit in the middle, gathered up all the poop again and patted it around the tastey bit. The "hidden" bit is yellow and is not at all disguised, but he seemed to feel content that it was sufficiently concealed.
Pretty normal behavior if our boys are any indication. LOL!

My Tanzania has learned there is a whole jar FULL of treats so she will take one, scurry away and hide it then come back for another. I think she'd hide every one of the treats if I kept giving them to her!!!
Sometimes she eats the first treat offered, but usually she hides it and asks for another. If I tell her that's all, she'll go dig one up and settle in to eat!
