hi im under the weather at the moment and sneezing quite a bit, and i was wondering as i read else where the degu's can catch my cold is this true and has anyone one had this happen to them? if so what can i do to prevent them becoming ill ??

ohhhhhhhhhh sorry, i shall be serious now.. not sure if degus can catch human viruses but im guessing they probably cant, my dogs, cats etc have never caught anything, but saying that...i cant be sure! just wash your hands before feeding and handling them i guess is the safest precaution

lol thats not far from what i was thinking lol. i read on another forum they could, though last year i had a really bad chest infection for a month and we shared out bedroom with them then and they were never ill but i wanted to be sure dont want them ill.

They should be fine, there haven't yet been any reported cross over infections from humans to degus. Rest easy.
