Hi all, how are you?!! I've notice that Frodo has started limping right now... It's just happened a few minutes ago when I've got him out of the cage to play... probably it has happened trying to scape from my hands (he doesn't like to be catched). Do you think I have to worry about it?? now he's still playing here with me, still limping, but still running and jumping...

I'm so sorry I missed this, Sunshine! I've not been the most alert the last couple of weeks. I think if you can feel down the leg the is being limped on, check to see if there feels like anything moving in an unusual manner that would suggest a break. Degus are known to walk about on broken limbs as a survival mechanism. They don't give it away when they are pain. However, lots and lots of us have had degus suddenly develop a limp, no discernable reason why, and within hours to a couple of days, there is no longer a limp. Hopefully that is what you have seen happen. How is Frodo doing today?

Keep an eye on it, if it becomes swollen then take them to a vet for some antibiotics. Otherwise just make sure there isn't too much to climb on and wait for his limp to recover. They are quite resilient I don't think my Steve broke anything even in his huge accident it was just very swollen, so try not to worry too much I'm sure he'll be fine.

Well, first of all, sorry for this "catched" LOL ( the spanish influence)... Frodo is quite better today, from the beginning he walks in a normal way and I don't see the leg swollen, just a little limp, but he looks good. I've put him in another cage without wheels and things that could be dangerous for him, so he can get well quickly Thank you both ;D Kisses!
