Just thought I would let you all know that we picked up our 4 female Degus from the RSPCA on Saturday. We had an eventful 15 min journey in the car with them being in cardboard carry cases and they nearly successfully chewed their way out despite being given toilet rolls and shredded paper to chew on. It was fun but was also the fastest I have driven on that route! The RSPCA booklet came in very handy for blocking the holes!! They have settled in very well into their new home. All have been named by my daughters, Spirit, Sky, Sun & Coco. At the moment the only one that we can identify is Spirit as she has a chunk of fur missing on her back and a shorter tail. We are really enjoying having them and are such fun. Definitely made a good choice but also glad we were able to rescue some rather than buy from a pet shop. Will attach some pics when I work out how to make them the right size......

ROFL!! You just knew it had to be useful for more than reading! I'm glad you "all" got home safe and still "appropriately contained." Ours were rather frightened on the way home and didn't do a whole lot of chewing. But on the day that my daughter took them to school for show and tell they were much more energetic. It took two boxes and a roll of duct tape to patch while we drove to get them there and home again without a breakout.

That also happened to me lol I was shocked at how fast they ate through the box and we had to pull over on hard shoulder and put the box into the cage as heads were popping out of loads of chewed holes lol
