Hi everyone
I thought i would properly introduce myself
Im mary and i have just picked up/rescued 2 lovely degus
When i picked them up there cage was empty apart from a dust bath. no toys no hay nothing it was bare.
So i had to have them and take them home to our loving family. so from a bare cage to this.
So now they have a tempory bed made out of card board box with hay inside.
The bottom of the cage is wire and i have bought the fleece to line it as they had been walking around on wire for the past 2 years.
I have bought them a nice big wheel which they have both had a look at and a small go on im sure as time goes on they will want to play in it more.
I bought some wood that was suitable from pet shop that makes a ramp for them to go up to one of the ledges in there cage.
I have filled up the hay cage with hay and they are loving this.
We bought them a card board tube to play in and we will be getting some branches and more toys asap.
what home made toys and amusments is everyone using. i did read about someone using egg box with hay and food inside. and seen about putting toilet roll in with kitchen room inside
I have taken the dust bath out of the cage which was being left constanly in the cage.
will be posting some pictures soon of our lovely lil goos
Many thanks

Hiya
just a little update
well we have had our lovely good a week now and completely transformed there livies.
They are so happy now with lots to do in there cage as well as there beloved wheel.
At first they wouldn't let me smooth them or pick them up, but every morning I bring there food to them and open the cage and talk to them and hand feed them before putting food in their cage. Well yesterday for the first time they were so comfortable they were jumping out on to my hands and running to the door when they heard my voice.
It's lovely to see them so happy and sarahs bald patch is starting to sprout hair so soon she will be back to normal.
Going to get partner to take pics of the good when I'm holding them.
What a happy ending for these lil boys

Mary I am sooooo happy for you are your Goos!!! As you know we rescued Goos too last Saturday but they seem to have been very well cared for.
Mine have not used their wheel yet but love the lovely big cage we have for them. Mine originally had a wire floor but my dad made me a metal tray that sits on it. I have put towels and a fleece down but they love going under it and we see little moving lumps under the fleece!! Lol!
Like you ours are getting tamer and come to the door when I sit and talk to them. They are so funny and like you we love having them!
Can't wait to see your pictures.

awww its lovely to hear that yours are settling in well.
mine were a bit cautious of the wheel as they spent 2 years of their life without one. now they cant get enough of the wheel and are always in it running around.
I think the fleece is a great idealand so much easier i change mine every couple of days and they are clean and comfortable.
im going to make some for my two guinea pigs, gonna sew old towels on the back to soak up the wee. im sure this will be better for them than having shavings or sewdust.
they are definately a lovely pet and so full of character too.
im gonna get the pics done today and will post on here tonight.
