Do they get less sharp as they grow? Our degus are only babies but my arms are absolutely covered with scratches. and I have resorted to wearing a scarf when I let the degus run on me a my neck was also covered on scratches

Ummm . . . well . . . no. Sometimes the occasional use of little bit of sand paper inside their wheel will help to polish down their nails, but it needs to be temporary, as constant running on the sand paper will begin to wound their little feet. I too have resorted to tying a towel around my neck, and it works. OR I will put on a long sleeved, high necked, shirt with a short sleeved shirt put on over top of that. That way they can dive inside, but I still have a shirt between me and their toe nails. I have even worn turtle neck sweaters for protection . . . but they are rather uncomfortable in warmer weather. Something I have pondered doing, but never yet followed through on it, is to buy a pinny, or workers smock, and modify it to be used whenever I have the degus out for a visit. Some of the smocks have so many pockets and such, and I've thought they could be a lot of fun for the goos to explore and climb around. AND they might protect me and my clothes a lot better too. Those are my ideas.
