We got some today as there wasn't any of the usual we get in. I was just opening the bag when I saw something moving about. When I looked there were about 20 little flies at the top of the bag with some little tiny white dot creatures and some that looked like a small wood-louse...Obviously I wont be giving them this lovely cocktail of insect but I was wondering if anyone else has had this? I'll be taking it back to another shop and getting the usual one instead. x

I have never had anything in the pets at home hay. I only buy the timothy hay but it's always been fine. I will keep a watchful eye whenever I buy some though thanks for the heads up.

I am betting it's not something you need to look out for...it'd be limited to the one store, as woodlice wouldn't survive the process that hay goes through and the long storage (although it could have happened in storage, of course) before it gets to the store. That said, I recently got hay from P@H and I've had no problems with it...haven't noticed anything crawling about in it except the degus :-)

oh my god thats horrible. *Shudder*. Good job you noticed! I get the 'posh' hay from pets at home as their treat hay alongside their normal constant hay, and not had any problems so far but i'll keep my eyes open. While we are talking about hay i have noticed the ones that have the herbs and stuff inside too. Are these good? also where do you get your timothy hay from Emz?
Cheers xxx

The timothy hay like I said is just from pets at home I switch between plain and the stuff mixed with dandelion and marigold. I also these days like to buy meadow hay from chinchillas2shop's website and mix them together or alternate every week. Their stuff is always well priced and of good quality (the hay there smells really fresh.)
