Rosehips are the standard chinchilla treat here. They add Vit C to the diet without adding sugar, which is potentially dangerous to a hind-gut fermenter like chins (and horses; their digestion is remarkably similar).
I also give a couple of pinches of an herb mix each week. The base was fines from timothy hay, to which I added (dried) chamomile, parsley, sage, crushed rose hips, bee pollen, hibiscus and rose petals, and old fashioned rolled oats. They don't truly *need* treats, but they're certainly helpful for training and socialization.

Is Rosehip the same as the Rosehip tea I have in my cupboard? I know it sounds really stupid to ask this but I dare not give it to my goos or the chins just in case! xxx

I don't know if they are the same but rosehips are berries you feed them. I know you can get them from ratrations...

Rosehip is the name of the fruits of (wild) roses. Rosehip tea should consist of this fruits, yes.
As I know rosehips contain some sugars as well, but I'm not absolutely sure. Also chinchillas should be able to produce vitamin C as degus can do. However I didn't check this in detail neither.
