Hi, so lately my degu had some tooth problems. I took her to the vet a few weeks ago to check her teeth, as the one of the front ones at the top was overgrown. There they cut it to even her teeth. A few weeks pass and that same tooth completely falls, so I took my degus to the vet again to cut the bottom one, as it was overgrowing. When they came back, the vet said that during the process the other tooth on her jaw snapped too. So now my degus has only one front tooth and I don't know how to feed her, as I've seen her struggle with a piece of bread (the soft part, I know it's not ideal but it was the only soft snack o could think of). Do you guys have any recommendations on how to feed her?? I Don't know if it's necessary to point out that my degus is 7 years old, so maybe that's why her tooth is more fragile now.

If you feed pellets, soften some with warm water. Alternatively, you can buy a powder from online stores or at your vet called Critical Care (make sure it's for herbivores). I'm going to move this thread to the health section

The front teeth grow very fast, so the lack of usable teeth shouldn't be a problem for too long, you can feed soft food in the meantime, softened pellets, vegetable baby food, Critical Care or Supreme Recovery. The teeth may need further trimming to get them to match up evenly after they have grown a bit, make sure she has plenty of wood to chew on to help her sort this herself.
Do make sure she has adequate calcium and vitamin d in her diet as this contributes to dental health, and not too many grain based treats as they throw off the mineral content of the diet.
