I think it's very likely that he will be okay. It's agonizing to not know what's causing something like this or how to fix it, but he is in good health otherwise and showing no other symptoms at this point. I agree that you should look into vets if this does not start resolving, but I think the chances are very good that this by itself is not an indication of a serious, life-threatening issue. Try to remain calm and keep a level head, you will get to the bottom of this eventually.

Just a thought (and definitely an outside consideration). Have a feel around his bum. Does he have any lumps other than bone? One of mine worried away fur in a particular spot because he had a tumor just under the skin.

That's a good point, Bouncy. I'm fairly certain that Pulla has a tendency to pull fur from his belly because he had a sizable surgery in that area, and it might have left scarring or some other lingering pain that bothers him. Especially since the place is so awkward to reach, it could very well be that something is bothering Kirby about that area specifically.

Thank you both for helping me out. these boys are my whole world and i wouldn’t know what i’d do without this forum. as for bouncy’s question: he doesn’t have any lumps or irritation in that spot luckily
