Hello, i dont currently have a heatpad, and my degus will literally chew anything:) even when they tried to bite the cord, they bit into it like in one bite! So i need your help and ideas for what you use for a heatpad (type) and where you keep it. Would be really appreciated for photos!

At one point I had a snugglesafe with a Roses metal tin lid velcroed on to completely cover it and they were left to think about the consequences of their actions in having to lie on metal instead of soft fabric! If you have any knocking about from years ago when Roses or Celebrations etc came in metal tins, the lids fit perfectly over the snugglesafe, self adhesive velcro on Snugglesafe and other half on tin lid and then they can't pull the lid off.
I also had a tube heater mounted under a shelf where they couldn't reach it so it warmed the shelf above, also made a built in wooden slot for the snugglesafe under the nest, but I think you have a metal cage so I don't know how doable that kind of arrangement might be. You may be able to use mesh to cover an electric heater and/or metal shower hose can work for covering a cord, but obviously you have to be 100% certain it is goo proof, I'd probably only do it as belt and braces for a location you are pretty sure they can't reach.

I have a snugglesafe for when we're out and about. In their cages, each group has a Petnap with flexguard. The pad is aluminium, and the cable is protected. They come in three sizes, but you'll have to make your own cover for it.

Oh, I forgot - my oldies also had a reptile heater in their cage for a couple of years, the black ones that fit into a light fitting. I put a cage around it so they couldn't burn themselves, and they happily relocated their nest to the floor directly above it! I only turned it on when the weather turned, though, whereas their petnaps stay on all year round.

I have a snugglesafe. I bought a couple of cheap covers off eBay and just rotate them. My girls haven’t chewed it at all, when it’s warm they are leg as flat as possible to get all the heat, when it’s cold they ignore it totally.

I use snuggle safe and keep an eye, the girls seems to love it to much to chew it. However about 4-5 years ago one of my boys had. nibble and I didnt notice so next time I heated it up, burnt myself with the gooey stuff on the inside.
