Hey guys.. After it being recommended thought I'd join this forum.. I've 2 male degus which I rehomed after someone no longer had time for them.. I'm trying to learn more about them all the time.. My little boy named them Billy and waterslide.. When i got them back in november they were 18 months old and came in a thickets cage..theyve always got on apart from minor disagreements until now..ive just got the aventura cage and bought lots of things for it.. I was so excited about how much room they will now have.. However I put them in the new cage today and they are fighting very aggressively and I've had to seperate them which is so upsetting.. Any ideas please on how to stop the fighting or if they will ever be able to live together again.. They always slept together before so I feel awful.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.. I feel so gutted its untrue 😕

Hey taffy, I've commented on the separation/fighting on the other thread so won't go into that here. Just wanted to say Hi & that Waterslide is THE most awesome name for a degu I've ever heard & I your son is an absolute belter for naming him that.
Have you had any rodent friends before or are these guys your first? I'm guessing they're your first degus?

Welcome Taffy,
You will find that degus are a huge learning curve as they are the ultimate weirdos of all rodents, lol. But they are loads of loveable fun!
Have a read through the stickies at the top of each section and if you need to ask questions please do. There are no silly questions when it comes to degus.

Hi Taffy, welcome.
We will help you figure it out, one territorial fight shouldn't end up with two separate goos long term, they've just got excited over a territory that is now worth fighting for.
