Hello. I need some help... Like always There is this myth that chinchillas do/can not fart. I know this isn't true, but need some hardcore evidence Do any of you know of article that can help me back up the fact that they do in fact fart... If it's degu or gp related that's totally fine as their gi tracs are so close to each other, one would have to be an utter idiot to not understand it goes for chinchillas as well

Best off looking for methane production... I can tell you for definite that degus can pass gas but its not a scientific source Oddly there is a spreadsheet online of animals that fart and guinea pigs are on there. I think you search for #animalsthatfart Here's a ref that mentions methane production in viscacha www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26473202Similar for capybara www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30623974

You can't have any form of bacterial digestion without gas production as a byproduct.

Yeah... I know molette... You should see the answers they give the person in the group. Deleting all her replies as they don't want fals info to get spread via the group... It's just... I don't know what to say tbh
