So I'm an intern (kind of) at this company, and today they asked what I wanted to do. If I wanted to make something for myself. So I this little thing to hang on the cage for forage. It's about 10*15*4 cm the back is 9 so they won't get as much outside of the cage. This way I can place it where ever I want. I don't have to think about laying forage on the ground and I get a better idea of how much they eat. Now I just need to make a bunch more for my other cages haha.

Great! What's it made of, is that mild steel or stainless?

Great! What's it made of, is that mild steel or stainless? Stainless. Not sure if it was 1,5 or 2 mm atm. It's a bit on the heavy side, and not too small so would be possible to make it out of something thinner

Darth, I would love it forever if you started a metal based pet accessory supplier. It feels like everything on the market is wood or plastic! The only thing I wouldn't love forever is trying to figure out how to get it imported...

Am I right in thinking that stainless is harder to weld?

Am I right in thinking that stainless is harder to weld? Not really no. It's just that with stainless it's only possible to use TIG welding, and it's a relatively slow process. I'm so bad at welding materials together that's not the same thickness but that's a question of practice. A lot of people don't like to work with stainless as it's such a relatively slow process

I've only been welding for 11 weeks and made this. It's not perfect but it will hold, so that's how easy it is

Looks great to me, Darth. So stainless would be more expensive to weld in a trade setting, that must be what I was thinking of. My dad talks to me about such things as welding, he used to work in mechanical engineering, I'd finally make him 100% proud if I learned to weld, apparently brazing copper and silver does not count. clare there's no accounting for goos! Mine aren't into containers all that much either, well, maybe if they can sit in it and block access for other goos.

moletteukI am kind of thinking it might be worth collaborating with a company that makes products in stainless. As they throw away a lot of excess and it often has a perfect size for projects like this

Yeah, you might be able to get it for the scrap price, or close to.
