Quick question what is the best way to deal with a bite wound on a degu? Still got anti biotic and critical care. Gonna try clean the blood off though it isn't too bad ATM.

You can bathe with quite a strong salt solution to initially clean a wound, or you could use a pet safe antiseptic, and you can even get dry antiseptic sprays that would be a low stress way to try to keep a wound sterile.
I don't tend to go in for repeat bathing as I tend to think there is a chance of introducing bacteria and disturbing scabs that are forming.
Always watch out for redness, heat, oozing fluid, or lumps or swelling forming that could be signs of infection. If a bite is serious or doesn't look right after a couple of days, see the vet.

When Squidgy was attacked by Spidey, he obviously got cuddles, but me trying to clean him up made things worse, so I left him to it. I agree with moletteuk to not repeatedly bathe, and just keep an eye out for infection. From a simple first aid perspective.......... A wound will normally bleed before clotting takes place. This is the body's way of flushing out the wound of debris/dirt. So yes, this does mean grazes are generally more likely to have dirt trapped in them. Clotting then stops the bleeding and forms a scab. This scab is a protective layer over the wound, keeping it clean and safe until the new skin underneath has formed. The scab then falls away when it's job is done! The wound needs air to dry the clotted blood into a scab. Bathing means that the wound can't dry out, and the body can't really begin the healing process underneath. Picking at a scab often reveals something weepy or sticky underneath (as kids and unfortunate parents well know), because the healing process isn't complete! Yes, I know there are exceptions to the rule......
