Hiya, my Rosie is very slowly losing weight and I'm not sure why. I see her eat and she gets the same as everyone else, seeds, mixed flowers and nuggets (plus hay) but every time I way her she seems to have lost a few grams. She's now under 220g, shes always been quite small but I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what to feed her to keep her weight up, that isn't unhealthy! Thanks Rhe

Have you considered taking her to a vet to investigate? It's not normal to slowly continually weight if she appears to be eating.

Organic rolled oats and sunflower seeds.
I agree with Emily! that there must be something going on. When was the last time that Rosie had her teeth and molars checked?

Well when I say slowly lose weight over a very long period of time and actually she's not been much heavier, I think maybe she puts on a bit and loses it again gradually. I just weighed her and her weights gone up again. But really if anyone has any ideas to fatten her up still, it would be helpful. She's not under weight but I wouldn't mind her being bigger so that she has a bit more to her if she ever gets ill. She only recently was at the vets for her tail so I don't think a vet visit is needed.

When she was at the vets did they manage to get a scope in her mouth to check all her teeth? Any regular fluctuation in weight should probably be checked out

Oil seeds are best and maybe a few nuts. Are you using a high calcium oil seed mix, like the Ratrations ones? Something like that with a few extra fatty seeds like linseed, sesame, safflower, milk thistle, hemp etc.

I can't quite recall if they looked in her mouth to be honest, I am taking her for a check up for her tail on Sat so will get them to check her teeth. It's an exotics vet so hopefully a lot more knowledgeable. I do feed them the seed mix from rat rations with extra hemp seeds as that is their favourite. I will try adding linseed and that could help a bit Hopefully it's not her teeth as that would be rubbish! She's my baby, the most tame one I have. She loves sleeping on my belly in bed. She's also the only one who will stand there and let me kiss her all over her little head and not even attempt to run away! So hopefully she's all good! It'll be an interesting bus ride to the exotic vets as it's quite far away!
