Having had my most recent weigh-in and seen what a lump he is, I'm curious about other degu weights. I know weight is all relative, but.......

I think I have little and large here, Bumblebee is a very trim 210g while Dixie is 315g. But Dixie is a much bigger goo overall from Bumblebee. I think it's because Dixie is an agouti, while Bumblebee is a champagne banded.

I'm relieved to find another goo over 300g! We all know he's unique, but I draw the line at Godzilla of the goo world!

Mater was 330g at his last weigh in so he's not huge yet. He was a bit of a bruiser though, lol.

Mine spent most of their lives at approx 290, 310 & 330g. Flossie got up to 350g. I tried everything to reduce their weight but they outsmarted me every time, if I limited the food beyond a certain level they would just do less activity to burn fewer calories. If you are seeing normal activity levels I wouldn't be tooooo concerned about 300+g weight. Since Molly died, Flossie and Alice lost loads of weight due to the grief and stress and their eating habits have never been the same since. They have both settled around 270g now, they did drop to 240g or so.
I think size, build and muscularity vary quite a lot. Spidey looks fine to me.

Last time I weighed Venk and Gandalf they were around the 240g mark, used to be 260-275g before Smeggle died (Smeg always ranged from 280-300g, Pip was always 290-310g). Sherlock is actually fat and needs to lose weight at 302g while Watson is on the thin side at 270g. So apparently I just have a habit of getting larger goos...

I have to agree with what moletteuk says, although the vet tells me off for Dixie being over 300g and thinks he should be nearer 220g. But he's a large boy overall and I think she was just quoting for the ideal weight chart.

Oh I'm not saying over 300g for all goos is fat by any means, just Sherlock has a fair bit of abdominal fat so he's definitely overweight for his size.

I'm in agreement ntg, Dixie is almost twice the size of Bumblebee, so he should naturally be the heavier one.
He has toned up at bit since having the tictac wheel, but I think know all he's done is add muscle.

Lol yes, I know weight is just a number. It was partly curiosity, especially as some goos are just naturally tiny. Sausagegoo stopped growing at 220g, only 40g on from when he was three months.
I'm perfectly happy with Spidey's weight, because everything is in proportion, and he's a very muscular dude, and hyperactive.

Our two seem to be gaining a steady 4g every two weeks by the looks of things. Hermione is 10g heavier than Bella and always has been, despite Bella being the dominant one... My only theory for this could be that Bella is more into the wheel and hogs the tic tac most of the day so has more exercise.
I would love to know how old mine are though! Does weight show that at all? P@H told us either 5 or 6 months old.... Which would make them around 8 months now. They weigh 238g and 248g, does this add up?

By that weight I would think they are closer to a year . . . but because there can be such differences in size, and upwards of 300g is adult size, they could be 9-10 months? Maybe?

I've got a 10 month old slightly heavier than that at 250g, almost as heavy as one of my adults. His brother is 210g! Each degu is truly his own!

With mine, I could see bodily changes every month up to about the 8 month mark. I remember that they seemed to go from sleek bullet shape to proper degu pear shaped in the space of about a month, and after that the changes really slowed down.
