Don't worry about it – it won't kill them. Just better that they not get one every day.

Like Yasmin says, it's better if they don't have them every day. Definitely cut out the daily hazelnut.
However . . . if it is something they REALLY like, you can use them for training purposes, like coming to your hand. Learning their names and coming when called. Getting back into the cage when you have them out. DON'T give them a whole one, but rather chop it into tiny silvers and pieces, and then just give them a small bit each time they do the right thing when you are training them. You could even crush the nut to be like sand, and then just dip your finger tip into it and let them lick it off.

As has been said before it won't kill them. But don't feel too bad, we have all been guilty of over indulging our pets from time to time.

Don't worry, we all make mistakes!
I give them a hazel nut once a month as a treat.

I think treats can be the hardest thing to get right. Are there any other treats you are giving that you aren't sure about?
I think keeping the treats as small as possible helps. So tiny bits of nuts, individual small seeds, hemp and milk thistle are quite a good size, sesame are good to scatter a few on your hand if they like them. Mine like dried veg, which you can break into tiny pieces.
If you like to give them something every time you walk in the room, then think about scattering a few of the Rat Rations seed mix or giving them some forage, or a couple of twigs, and then these things are healthy anyway. (try and keep within 1 tsp each per day of RR seeds).

We use pumpkin seeds as daily treats for our lot and smaller seeds like hemp and Niger for training.
