Yes well done DC lol. Thanks moletteuk, will get Nina sorted to, she needs an xray which will be done next week to check her routes, she has diabetes aswell so that wont help her teeth any. Have to agree with you there about vertigo as even if she runs up her ramp she stops and I have to help her. She shakes to when up a height so definitely getting dizzy spells but hey, we are happy with her progress! Yes it is really sad and upsetting when we only realise whats happening as they cant hide it any longer. Ah if they could talk hooman......wouldn't that be something.........would be abit like this youtu.be/kt6OSpWEdqo

LOL I think there might be more swearing! And more demands from my lot! Absolutely, the progress sounds great, that's the main thing How come we don't know more about Nina and the diabetes? I've just properly looked at your signature and seen how many goos you have! How have I not registered this before?

I think I'm in the same boat with you, Moletteuk. I was thinking, NINA?? LOL! How did you determine she is diabetic?

Indeed lol. Yes we have a house full and not forgetting that 'Radomname' and 'Keithdonna' adopted 3 boys each! Did my signature when I first joined. I think its because Lula literally lived with us for over a year before we got her Joey that she is such a big part of our life. They all are really, but Nina and Millie have each other and just get on with things, as do the pups where by Lula sees us as her pack and is always around us.
Its a shame about Nina as her sister and Lula have the same diet but we noticed her eyes clouding over over a year ago now and then just turn white. She's a grey agouti and don't know if this is the difference that has caused her to be more at risk, could be wrong of course but seems strange how she has it but they don't! We literally cried when it happened as we knew it would mean she may not live as long and her quality of life would be affected but she copes really well. You don't realise how much they use their ears and whiskers. She can navigate around her cage and the flat and is a really happy girl but still I hate her having it. One of her front teeth turned white around the same time as the eye clouding but we added more forage to her diet and it turned yellow again. Unfortunately she's got abit poorly but I think she has plenty more life in her. She better had, not ready to loose her yet.

Ahhh! With the stick thingy. I do sort of remember something about that. LOL! I need Winic's memory . . . she has an AMAZING memory!! Anyway, some degus just seem to be more prone to developing diabetes than others. Have you modified her diet as a result of this?

Tell me about it, my memory is terrible! We have adjusted her diet, did aload of reading up and increased the forage they have as we just didn't realise how important it was to give them not just hay!

Aww Lula climbed up onto the settea for the first time in along time today, was so cute and she got really excited when I praised her. She didn't want to go onto my hand to get down, she did it on her own so she got some oats for being a clever girl. Its like she looks younger and her fur is shining and ears all alert. When she slowed down we thought it was age so feel awful it was because she was so sick! Stopped her meds today as we haven't seen her flicking her ears for 4 days now, god, it took so long to get her sorted but can safely say she is rid of the infection now. She is running around like its all new to her! She still comes up to us though and puts her head to one side showing us her ear so we can massage it but I think its just because she has got used to the pampering and really enjoys it. She also really likes having under her back legs massaged and pokes her bum out so we can get right under. Its quite hard fur from not bathing as she still isn't using her bath but think she will in time. If not, she has 2 hooman slaves to soften the fur for her. Happy days

Marvellous Did you see the discussion a few weeks ago about brushing with a toothbrush or 'finger' brush?
