Just a tiny question . . . are these the very same crocs that have been part of a recent discussion on a now "dead" thread? LOL! I get why, and I know you will use great judgement in their use. It's kind of interesting though.

deguconvert - Yes DC it was a thread started awhile back and its what Yasmin had linked and I mentally noted it and today thought Oooo will have a look back through and see whats what. Its just incase I cant get her tempted with recovery feed etc if she has a operation on her teeth and she needs abit persuading. I know 1 every 3 days is what Yasmin recommended, maybe 1 a day for sick goo so I will be careful.

Just to update guys. Found an amazing vet and would highly recommend Sam Prescott at Robson & Prescott vets, Whorral Bank, Morpeth. The knowledge and time he spent with us talking and examining Lula was amazing. He seems to know them inside and out! He believes (without an xray) and watching her walk and listening to the problems that she has a damaged ear drum. With still giving meds we can keep her comfortable while she heals. He said he can xray but suggested we do this if shes still having problems in 2 more weeks. Stated long term baytril use can cause stomach problems but as all of her poops are normal, just carry it on as its doing its job. He is trying to save us money so that was good. He said her front teeth are perfect and felt all her jawline and said if she was having dental problems, she would probably favor one side to eat with but both sides of her mouth are equal. She is eating and there's no wetness from her nose or mouth, which doesn't suggest root growth through soft tissue or overgrown molars. As we saw infection in her ears, it would highly suggest problems was the ears. Her weight has went from 240g on 26th December to 277g today. She has picked up, has started exploring again and her appetite is back with a vengeance. She can groom herself abit better, still not favoring the bath but can do little side rolls. Still wobbly but not like she was last week. If this doesn't work he said he can do an xray to look at teeth and lastly a scan on the brain, which he said is pointless as it will cost in the region of 3 grand and he couldn't do anything about it anyway! She was so good at the vets too, just sitting in my hand, letting him do what he needed to. Told her she's such a good girl and my little princess Very very hopeful now . Just discovered the new smileys, thought my computer wasn't showing them. The days just get better

That's great! Have you added his details to the vet section on here?
Still think she should have just one crock as a reward for being such a good girl at the vets. Never taken a pet in yet when the vet didn't need a plaster.

Ooo thanks Savvycat, will add details to it. Yes she had one, put a hole in and added baytril and she ate the lot, treat for her, medicine in for me. My other goo's have and would give warning bites but with her, anyone can pick her up and she is very accepting. The vet must have sighed with relief when he escaped a bite/s.

Woohoo, I'm so happy for you, it must be a massive relief for you for her to be doing better and to know she is now under the care of a good vet. Great that she is responding to the antibiotics. If you get concerned about the antibiotics affecting her digestion, then you can use some probiotics (Vetark Pro C) and/or Critical Care or Recovery once she comes off the ABs and she should eat some of her cagemates poo which should help repopulate her gut. I think the weight gain and lack of any dental symptoms makes the overgrown roots unlikely, I think Maravilla reported that they were getting odd cases in Germany of overgrown roots with no spurs, but you don't seem to have any direct symptoms at all, so it doesn't seem likely for Lula I got a packet of Crocks to try, just to see what they are like, and I tend to agree with Yasmin, they aren't for everyday because there aren't any more clues on the packet what is in them, but could be very useful for hiding medicine and tempting sick degus to eat or testing dental pain and appetite. You aren't going loopy Goolover, I redid the smileys just yesterday so they appear in the smiley menu in full reply mode now (as well as the asterisk ** method). But how on earth has DC managed to break it already?? Do you know what you did, DC?

Thanks moletteuk, it was so great to have the knowledge you and others shared with me so I was aware of what the problem could be and make sure was examined for them. We are literally over the moon and the vet is really really great so we will drive all our babies up to him in the future if anything pops up. Went to see her before and she give me a go away noise (she talks to us like we're goo's) so I know she is not needing me around so much now. She has been stuck to us like clue while she's been ill so this is a good sign. Funnily enough, she has been eating Joey's and also Millie and Nina's poops as they share the same play area (different times of course lol) so she will be helping her gut already. Happy days. I know what you mean about the crocks, looked them up on different pet websites and they seem to have a high oil/fat content too so made me worry slightly but what I did today was cut one in half and add the meds so she isn't getting a full one either. The vet has asked us to give her baytril twice a day instead of the once so I will give her the other half later but then go back to adding meds to her feed. Will give her every 3 days like Yasmin advised. Ah, so it wasn't my poor computer skills lol. Yes DC, what have you done to get all that wording after each smiley!

HOW HAVE I MANAGED TO BREAK IT ALREADY??? Well I posted %cheer& &cheer& &cheer& and it went BONKERS. Then I looked at it in edit, and retyped one of them and what you see is what came out. I thought . . . at least I have three cheerleaders now, though.

@dc If you were using the *word* method then there is a good chance it was the proboards system that mucked up the substitution. Maybe Can't have too many cheerleaders

I've found through painful editing that you have to put a double space between each *word*

AH HA!!! That could have been my problem . . . not enough spacing and the cheerleaders were knocking each other out!!

Just a quick update. Cant believe how well Lula looks and acts now. She is now walking upright and is solid on her feet, using her back legs properly when walking and can stand on her back legs again, grooming etc. She is still avoiding the bath and we can tell her ear is still abit sore as she is flicking it abit but her its gonna take time to heal. She can scratch but cant quite get the hind legs up to her ears so we do it for her. She actually lets us put our index finger in her ear and ever so slowly we massage her and she loves it, must give her relief. She comes up to my hand, tilts her head as if to say 'come on then, do that thing you do' lol. I think this has been going on longer then we thought as it seems ages ago that she walked so upright with her ears standing to attention and the speed she runs around is like, well a goo speed. She just looks amazing. The only thing is her fitness has been affected. She went exploring today and went down the stairs. We sat and waited for her to come back up but she gave up half way and just looked at us so my boyfriend went down and put his hand out and she walked on to be taken back up, so cute. She actually does little excited hops and darts around again when we talk to her, cant remember the last time she did this either. Have reduced her baytril to once a day now and will continue until she recovers. Taking Nina to vets tomorrow though, definitely has teeth problems, plus she is blind and more pampered than Lula so not looking forward to it and don't think the vet is gonna have a easy time.....one goo sorted another to worry about but i'm sure he will be able to help

Wow that sounds like a great result It's sort of happy-sad when you see the improvement and only then can realise how much they were affected, so annoying they can't talk and hide things from us so well. Sounds like she is an absolute sweetheart and has you trained perfectly as her slave I wonder if the pausing on her way up could have an element of dizziness to it, vertigo certainly stops me in my tracks. Good luck with Nina. And for DC doing a complicated sequence of smilies without malfunction
