How often do those with long-term dental issues have their spurs trimmed? Curious, as Scaredygoo had his done in September, but I noticed last night he had problems trying to eat a dandelion root. He's not lost any weight (4g on since last month), but I'd rather get in there sooner than later if needed.

Try again . . . first attempt got blown away by some error on proboards. So, I have heard of some degus having to return as quickly as two months for another go. In general it is hoped that they can go anywhere from three to six months between, but that is not always the case.

Thanks - he's managed three and a half months, and I think it's only dandelion root he was struggling with. I've just watched him gobbling some seeds

Yeah vet said same thing to me that it varies. She said it could be a couple months or best case scenario every year. She wants to see him again in a few months to have another look to kind of gauge the rate of growth he has.

When I first got the boys two out of the 4 needed very regular spur treatment Earl has never seen a vet in 4 years "touch wood" Dennis has had front tooth trim once and Mr grey and Al were going every 3 months, Ive completely changed their diet and I think it's helped I'm taking them once maybe twice a year. But they do have the growths on the bottom jaw line but thankfully they don't seem to have grown much. I can tell straight away when they need trimming it's weird like they sit staring At me then when I notice they obviously paw at their months lol cant deny it I'm a paranoid degu mum. Xx

Lol
Scaredygoo was ill when I adopted him (medical passed? Yeah right......), and it might just be that his root issues make it difficult for him to eat them, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. It might just be me overreacting too!
