Hey guys
I know their teeth are supposed to be orange and they always have been but tweeny and fatsy's teeth have been going whiter and whiter and now quite white? I've been assuming it's due to the intence amount of chewing/gnawing they've both been up to with trying to chew through wooden shelves to get to each other, metal bars to get to each other or gnawing stuff aggressively to point out their annoyed with the situation, basically they've spent th last month gnawing the majority of the time for one reason or another. Thought I'd best check with you guys though in case I need to get it seen to. I'm pretty certain they are still orange at the very tops and bottoms so figured the over chewing was grinding the orange colour away. Does that sound right? They've always been orange before and no changed to diet and little ones are still orange and she hasn't been chewing everything in sight?
They've stopped chewing so much now so should I give it a few weeks to see if colour comes back?

Pups start with light coloured teeth, which should become yellow as they grow. From memory, teeth being white/growing paler can be a sign of illness or a deficiency in their diet.

Well they're about 18 months old now and they've always been yellow/orange until the last month and I haven't made any changes to their diet so a bit confused lol? And their definately orange right down at the bottom of the tooth but then get whiter the further up the tooth it is???
Are the backs of the teeth supposed to be yellow/orange too or just the fronts?

I think it is mainly the fronts. If they are chewing on the bars a lot it could account for the whiteness. However, it could also be a sign that they are not eating properly. You might start weighing them and keeping track just to make sure that they are eating enough.

The chewing on the bars could be removing the surface of the tooth, but to me it sounds like it is growing out white if you are seeing the colour growing lighter from tip and up to the gums. Am I remembering rightly that you were feeding them Charlie Guinea Pig, and have over the past . . . four weeks maybe . . . been trying to get them onto better food sources? I have a feeling that I am confusing you with another member!! If so, sorry for the blunder!!

No you are confusing me with another lol, they have rosewoods/jr farm with Versele laga crispy pellets as they have to be grainless. They also have alot of herbs/forage and degu seed mix. And very expensive timothy hay :-(
I don't know if explained it properly. Where the teeth grow out the gums, it is orange. further up the teeth away from the gums is looking whiter?

This does sound like the orange is getting rubbed off, since they are on the same diet and the teeth are orange at the base. Keep an eye on it for a couple of weeks, check that they stay orange at the base at least. I can back up Yasmin saying the orange is just the fronts. I also like the idea to weigh them just to check they are eating while they are stressed with the fall out.

I definitely was imagining the orange in the wrong place. As Moletteuk says, and Yasmin, they must be rubbing it off with their bar chewing. WOW!! They must be making quite the racket with all that chewing!!

Yes they were driving me insane along with their screaming at each other and me. Can't believe how much solid wood they got through and already ruined the paint job on new cage lol! Nice and peaceful at the mo though so hope it stays that way when I go back on saturday. Okay will give a few weeks and keep eye on it. Yes Molette, I will try and weigh them next week though I need better scales tbh. Little one and tweeny look like put on weight and only fatsy looks like has lost weight as lost her folds of fat and rediculous fat cheeks but she's doing exercise and being proactive for first time so wasn't too concerned but will sort that next week and monitor properly :-) thanks
