Any suggestions for little snacks to put metacam on? Atm we're using pumpkin seeds, dandelion and flaked peas, but Mater seems to be getting a bit fed up of them. Is there anything else we could try and expand the range a bit more to keep him happily snacking on his meds?

fenugreek cruchies are always my go to for putting meds on.

Until I found out just how much Scaredy LOVES Metacam, I used to put it on a piece of dandelion root. No need now, because he drinks it direct from the syringe, then licks the outside of it clean!

Might be worth a go with the syringe, it does say banana flavour, so he might take to it.

Nuts, buckwheat or rice puffs, dried carrot or dried beetroot.

uglibug there's also a honey flavour, if banana doesn't quite grab them. It's the only one Scaredy will take.

Tried with the syringe this morning. He seemed a bit confused at first, never seen one before, lol. Finally took it and just yumed it up!!

Excellent! Problem solved! Hang on, that means he prefers Metacam over dandelion root. He used to love root, but now sometimes turns away disappointed if the Metacam isn't on there. And he runs to me for the syringe. Oh no, my goo has a drug addiction!

We used to use a TINY piece of Ryvita, either plain or the pumpkin seed one.
Definitely not ideal (salt, grains) but they would ALWAYS scoff it - depends on the life-stage of your goo.
i.e. ours were older and the Metacam was just a way of keeping them comfortable with their problems so they could have a bit more life, a few more months. So pushing the envelope on their diet wasn't the worst thing that could happen to them at that point.
(The vet even suggested putting it on a raisin if that meant the oldest degu would take it, and he was a degu expert).
