Buddy and Mater have had a bit of a falling out and, for a change, Buddy came off worst. He has lost a good chunk of fur from his face and one of his eyes is shut and looked a bit gummy. We've bathed it and taken out their bath. Should we do anything else or just monitor it for a day or two to make sure it heals?

Did you see it before it closed up? Is the eyeball itself OK?

His eye opened a bit this morning, not quite as wide as normal, but the eye itself looks OK. There's a nasty looking scratch running along his face just underneath the eye, so I assume it was swelling from this that caused it to close up last night. We've given it another clean but thankfully they both seem fine, eating, sleeping, playing etc, I even got hubby to check on them at about 3 o'clock this morning cause I heard a noise, lol. They do like to worry me, little monsters.

Hopefully it will heal up by itself. It's horrible when you are worried enough to get up in the night I guess you have to admire Buddy and Mater being bothered to fight at their age!

It was quite a surprise! Normally fighting involves lots of squeaks and the occasional bat on the head, but it looks like they really laid into each other. Hopefully this isn't the start of another bout of dominance fighting. Can do without having to split and reintroduce them again.
