Hey! I've been thinking I should start training my degu. He's getting a little snotty, so, it's time for a change. Anyone know of any ways to train them to do tricks? THANKS! Shelby

tricks as such are hard to achieve! Simple repetition and reward of the desired behaviour is whats needed, have a food he likes nearby, and when he does something you want to encourage, treat him!
good luck

it seems the only trick our couple has adapted, is they go nuts when they see me, when I open the screen lid of their tank, they get sooo happy to see me cause they know it will be play time , followed by food reward. when I play with them , say I"m on the couch and as they squirm around me and/or the couch, I rub my fingers together to make a lil sound..they look, if they respond and come to my fingers, I give them a lil reward..and we keep trying it out..that's as fancy as we've been with training
Sandy la la who just might be a granny cause the girl looks kinda FAT

training is a long LONG process!
I like your use of food as a reward, but beware what you use!!
Mine are addicted to bran flakes. The normal ones you buy as cereal for humans!! I buy the stuff that says it doesnt have sugar, and share it with them!
i think they like it more than I do!!!
