So I cleaned the cages today and decided to let the degus out together and there were no fight and hardly any notice taken of each other. When I got them back in their respective cages I accidentally left Dusty's cage open and she was out which was fine, but she had climbed on top of her fairly high cage and must have got startled when I walked past and she tried to get down but fell. She was running and I caught her and noticed her mouth was bloody. I tried to have a look but she was having none of it and back in the cage she just shouted at me whenever I tried to pick her up to have a look. She's bathing and running and seems okay, and the bleeding has stopped but I cane see whether she's hurt her teeth! I'm worried she may have broken a tooth and that's why the blood. I will keep an eye on her and hope she isn't in pain and will nibble at some food soon but a bit worried it will be painful. Has anyone else had something happen to degus teeth and is it just the case of keeping an eye on them eating and if they're not can I somehow feed her soft food?

Can you entice her with a tasty treat? That way, you can test eating and get a look at her.
It might have come from landing, and the teeth cutting the inside of the mouth?

I'm hoping so. Her teeth looked ok when she stood up and she was nibbling on some hay so hopefully it was just a cut. Will keep an eye on her.

Keep a close eye on her. I would wait for her to completely calm down before you try to get a look.

I think it was just a cut on her lip as it's a tiny bit swollen but she was nibbling away at a nut last night and even chewed on some bars and her wooden house so I think teeth and inside of mouth are okay. It really scared me!
They really do think they're better climbers than they are
