How long should my girls' bottom teeth be? I'm starting to worry that Pip's are too long. She isn't grinding them and is still eating/drinking but on Friday morning she was making a really strange sound when I fed them - a bit like hiccups. I got her out and tried to check her over and she seemed fine (she's not particularly keen on being held so I couldn't check her mouth) and today she was alarm calling and I noticed her bottom teeth were pretty long.
I tried to get the other two to show me theirs but they weren't playing. Even when I held treats up so they had to stretch they managed to do it without showing me their teeth. Frustrating!
I'm tempted to take her to the vet to have a good look in her mouth but I don't want to do it if there's no reason. I can't imagine it will be a relaxing experience for her!
Does anyone have any pictures of what their teeth should look like?

Thanks AMC, I'm going to try and get a good hold on her today and look at them.
Might just book into the vet for my own piece of mind.

I took one in as I was worried about spurs turned out there were no spurs but vet said they trimmed his front teeth as they were too long but I hadn't realised I thought they were normal lol

It's difficult to see the lower front teeth, and in my experience they look shockingly long when you do see them, but when you think about it they are only a similar length to the top ones. It's always good to be vigilant about teeth, and I can't tell you they are fine, but I can say I'm not surprised you were surprised how long they looked! I would guess they are getting on for 8mm, something like that, I don't have any photos.
I think any problem in the bottom teeth will be reflected in the top teeth, so if the top ones end at around the right place in relation to the lips and face, then the bottom ones are likely to be OK, if the tips look OK.

Thank you, thats made me feel better. I've been keeping an eye on her all weekend and I've not heard the noise again so maybe she was just having a moment. I've not tried to check her mouth again, she isn't keen on physical contact but she has been eating fine and is being her normal inquisitive self, came for a nosey when I was cleaning the cage. I'll keep watching and if anything changes I'll get her to the vet
