Hi, as we are rapidly approaching the new year celebrations I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to keep my little guys safe and as stress free as possible during the fireworks.
I know they have sensitive hearing, not sure how good their eyesight is, but I also don't know how they are going to react to the neighbourhood fireworks.
Any advice welcome.
Many thanks!

My guys don't seem to react to loud bangs, or thunder, or fireworks (the fireworks are not nearby though). Perhaps keeping the lights on and feeding them so that they are too busy doing their own thing to care might help. (?) Mine do however react to vehicles driving up our gravel driveway and people walking up the metal stairway outside our house so I am always warned that visitors have arrived.

Mine sleep right through fireworks a few blocks away .... but Einstein is terrified of the snow plow and once he woke me up at 4am screaming (I am on the opposite side of the house AND downstairs with one door closed). I had to cuddle him for 30 full minutes before he would calm down enough to let me put him back without starting to alarm call again.
And .... snow plows are a very common sight here in alberta lol, who knows?

Mine don't bat an eye at fireworks, even right outside my window. What freaks them out is the fan when I turn the oven on.

Thanks all, its good to know that they won't get too freaked by fireworks.
The only thing thats upset mine so far was the sound of a perigrin falcon which I suppose is a very natural reaction to any bird of prey.

Most of our goos don't mind fireworks but Mater is, for some reason, petrified of them. We just keep the radio on and give him cuddles. It takes him an hour or so after they have finished to settle back down but he seems to feel safest curled up in my bra, so thats where he'll sit for the duration.

Thanks to everyone who replied.
In the end my concerns came to nothing and they are both snuggled up in the hay at the back of their house - they usually sleep on its roof but decided they wanted it laying on its back earlier tonight. They are not fazed one little bit.
Happy new year all.
