Hi guys! So I thought I'd create a thread so I can keep updating you all on the build of our girls' new cage! Initial external design: s18.postimg.cc/6vlddst4p/cage_design.jpgInitial internal design: s17.postimg.cc/41tph6fz3/Internal_design.jpgI'm sure the design may change slightly as we go but that is the initial idea. The wood arrives on Thursday and the build with my Dad will be starting next week. It's very exciting! I will update our progress as it moves along. . . . . . In other news - we have decided to name our fifth girl Quinn (meaning five/fifth). Her and her 2 brothers are 4 weeks old today!

So work on the girls' new cage begins tomorrow! My Dad is a busy guy so he is hoping to complete it this weekend if all goes well, if not next weekend.
I have baked him a coffee cake in pre-thanks!
The girls are wondering what all the bits of wood are for and seemed incredibly excited when I started moving it about this morning!
On a separate note, the boys' new owners came to meet them on Wednesday and it went very well. They cannot wait to have them. They'll be leaving us (sadly!) as soon as the new cage is built.

Looks good The holes for routes through are best square cut so you can get the metal protection right into the corners. And you should probably get some filler or silicon to waterproof the little chips in the melamine where it is cut to stop urine getting in, you can get 'rainproof caulk' from toolstation or you can get fish tank silicon, just make sure it's on thinly so there is no lump for them to chew. I also seal my shelves to the walls now to stop crud getting trapped down the gap.

Unfortunately my Dad wasn't feeling too well yesterday so we only did a couple of hours work.
We managed to finish off the back of the unit and install mesh windows in the sides to let more light in.
Moletteuk thanks for the advice. We're going to get the doors on and then we'll begin making it degu-proof!
We'll be starting again this Saturday and will hopefully have it completed!

Looking great!! You must be so pleased and excited! When do you hope to have the goos in there?
How are the pups doing, and have you heard from the people that took the boys? Just curious how they are getting along.

Looking great!! You must be so pleased and excited! When do you hope to have the goos in there? How are the pups doing, and have you heard from the people that took the boys? Just curious how they are getting along. The girls moved in last night! They seem to be settling in fine and love the amount of space they have. Though at the moment it's not as much as we had hoped as we've split them. So bertha and Enya have the top 2 levels and Prea, Prue and Quinn have the bottom 3 levels. The boys have moved into the spare cage. They seem a bit docile. Mr Grey is much more active and confident than Mr Brown. I'm guessing they're just getting used to life without Mum, Sister and Aunt. It does break our hearts a little though. The family are coming to pick the boys up this weekend. I'll post pictures of the girls in their new home at some point! On another note, since we woke up this morning Bertha has been making repetitive screeching noises but we have no idea why. Any ideas?
