Well today's the day I get my new Goo crew. I'm soooo excited!!! With my final preparations done I wanted to ask if anyone had any advise on settling my new boys in, and making the change any easier for them? Is it best to leave them for a day or so to settle in or begin handling straight away. Are there any definate dos and donts? Thanks in advance guys.

Not sure what dos and don'ts there are except don't try picking them up until they are calm around you. Let them settle for many days (maybe weeks, depending on the goos' personalities) before attempting to handle them. Spend time with them though – sit near the cage, let them get used to your scent, give them treats individually with your hands – that way they associate you with good things. It helps if they don't get startled much – if you have any other pets, keep them away from them. Make sure they have places to hide in in the cage so they feel they have a safe place if they get too stressed out. Hmmm, can't think of anything else right now. Looking forward to hearing from you when you get your crew.

Thanks that's really helpful. I'll take some pics tomorrow but will let them settle tonight. They seem to be making themselves right at home though so that's good.

Congratulations My settled in really well, they were out on my hand within 24 hours, but they had been handled since birth. My previous group took longer to settle, I used to sit by their cage and read so they got used to my scent. Can't wait to see pictures!

I need to spend more time with my two crews. The group that has never been handled is still so skittish. Only Mama Goo will take oats from my hands. The group of two will sit on my hands eating and have started to come out onto my lap but haven't tried to climb my shirt or arms.

They've all settled in quite nicely making the cage their own One of them is a little more shy then the others but he seems interested in what's going on so that's good.

They are just lovely!! Like Moletteuk, I think they are looking a little overwhelmed. You might want to let them settle into their cage a few days before having them out in your play pen. All the newness of cage and pen and you could make them more wary and untrusting if they become overwhelmed. Although . . . if they are enjoying that and you already, and seeming totally relaxed enough to be very curious, then continue with it.

They seemed quite happy being out trying to climb up my trouser leg and sitting on my lap....they done it by themselves, I just tried to sit still and talk to them. They are little unsure about me but they're also curious so I'll go slow and get them use to me abit more.
