Thank you both the vet commented she already seemed less drooly so fingers are firmly crossed. Bought them even more stuff when we went to the shop to settle the bill, i'm smitten already

saddlers I'd remembered that the degu in question was named Wilfred - an unusual name - and searched for that ;-) (Wilfred turned out to be a girl!)

Do bear in mind that if this is an aggressive bacteria, like in the other thread, you may need to replace or disinfect the accessories, so I would hold off from adding new things until the infection is cleared. You may be able to soak things in vinegar and water or salty water, or possibly put them in the oven for a while to kill off bacteria.

Disinfection is no issue, I have some safe4 and that kills off pretty much every bug but is pet safe. The new stuff they have should be fairly easy to disinfect though I might need to buy a new wood chewer. By the time the new cage is sorted she should be better and I have saved the nest box I bought for then
