I think I still have my old metacam syringe at home .... I'll look and see if I can figure out how much I was doing - it was defintely more than a drop though. I would call your vet though and ask why he recommended a 4kg dosage for a 0.3kg animal! That is way too much medication - that would be the dosage you give a cat ....

Degutopia starting dose works out at 0.05ml of cat metacam for 250g degu. There are generally said to be 20 drops per ml, so 0.05ml is one drop. When I've had metacam from the vet the dosage they told me was half to one drop. So, I would say don't worry about the numbers on the syringe, just use it to draw out a small drop as best you can. Glad he's doing well today

I'm glad he's doing well Chloe! That must have been an awful experience for you. Don't worry about it affecting him though, his balance won't be quite as good but the majority of it comes from the bottom part of the tail so they still get around perfectly fine.

Glad to hear he's doing well! When my sister was little, she accidentally degloved my beloved gerbils tail, it's horrifying! But I'd say a lizard dropping it's tail is worse, as it continues to thrash around! I had a long taled lizard drop it on me once, it was like as nake >__<

Just keep an eye on it - infections are usually red and hot to the touch, so check it's not heading that way.
