I'm planning on building my own cage and need a material to protect the edges etc. I have found this perforated metal tape that is relatively cheap but would it withstand the goos.  > link < |

I've used aluminium corners from Homebase for about £2 per 2 meters (2mm thickness). I initially used it as emergency protection until I was able to find proper edges but after 4 months my monsters haven't even been able to make a dent in it.

The aluminium one is what I've got on one corner of my playpen that was getting heavily chewed, they give ot the off half-hearted go but haven't gotten anywhere. However, the determined degu can make a good dint in aluminium which can be problematic because of the sharp shards that can break off in the process.
