Is anyone elses degus obesessed with the radiators? It started with Joe, I'd sit on the toilet, he'd jump from the side, onto my laptop, onto my arm then jump on the radiator and most of the time miss so I've had to put a towel over it so they can grip. Joe just basically lets himself fall off the edge (he tries to reach the blue tiles as he doesn't know what they are) and just falls.. Now olly does it, not as much as joe but still.

One of my girls is just obsessive full stop. They seem to get fixated on an item and go nuts for it. For your guys it's the radiator, my pepper lives to scrabble/bite/chew one particular corner of their room. Once one does it the other follows suit, daisy goes to the corner too but if I tell her no she leaves it. They'll probably move onto something else soon, then (when you think it's safe) go back to it.... Little monkeys!

Ha ha - the bottom door of our cage has the perspex they use in prisons (don't ask) and they chew through it same spot to the extent we have to put extra sheets in to stop them making even more of a hole And radiators - umm mine just like to eat the bottom of them - very healthy i must say OCD the lot of them just like my boyfriend - but he isn't as cute or furry !!!!!

Mine stretch up and try to climb the back of it, but I pick them up, tell them no and plonk them in the bath. Olly is obsessed with all materials (like tops etc) he always climbs the dressing gowns in my bathroom and will just stay clinning to the top for ages and once I didn't realise and pooped myself (not literally) then I saw it move and took him down, he'll climb inside the pillow case and move around, he's obsessed.

Mine are obsessed with eating the wallpaper and climbing up the walls, literally. And the cheeky degus will not take no for an answer. They will literally run round me in a circle before going back to the chewing.

Can degus not get out of the bath tub? I have read about lots of people putting them in a bath?

Well . . . they can, but it usually takes a little before they figure out how. The nice thing about doing introductions in the bath tub (empty of course ) is that: 1. The tub being nice and white makes it easy to see them. 2. The tub is a confined space so they aren't running away on you. 3. Being a confined space, it is much easier to catch them. 4. If doing introductions and a fight breaks out, breaking up the fight is easier in the confined space, and if using a spray water bottle, to help discourage fighting, you don't have to worry about getting other surfaces wet. So basically, you can see them well, and have full access to them very easily, but they can't get far, and they can't easily get away from you. They are still unbelievably fast, so you can still find it hard to catch them, but at least they aren't in a room with underneath spaces etc where they can stay beyond your reach.
