Heya, I just purchased two male degus - Coyote and Dingo - and they're approximately four months old. I'm a new owner and was hoping to spam you guys for some tips and help!
They've come on leaps and bounds, they'll sit on my hand, run up my arm and give me nibbles (although sometimes they get a bit zelous!). Just training them to sit on my hand when I move it. Currently using bran flakes and occasionally herbs from P@H small pet herb mix as treats. Is there anything else I could use that I don't have to keep to a total minimum (they don't get a huge amount, abvout 1/2 bran flakes a day) or that I can use as well like oats that isn't going to do any harm!
Also, was wondering where we stand with scratching etc? When they sit on my hand or come up to the cage door I try and give them a quick scritch behind their ear or on their thigh but they just tend to scoot off! I've noticed it's all about patience but hopefuly I'm not doing anything wrong?!
Please feel free to let me have any tips or anything and I apologise for the long post!
Thank you,
Jade.

I like to also give my degus, along with oats and dried blackcurrant leaves, crumbled pieces of those little shredded wheats. All stuff must be given in moderation though however you're usually ok to spoil them a bit during the early training. Puffed rice or whatever it's called is also a pretty popular treat choice.
My degus after all this time still have days where they don't want to be touched.

I try not to feed them too much, just would like to give them a bit more of a variety that isn't going to do much harm! Thank you
